“We are beginning to understand what ails us, and it’s not something an oxygen facial or a treadmill desk can fix.”
Anne Helen Petersen | Buzzfeed | Jan 2019This is VERY good and VERY depressing
“The exhaustion experienced in burnout combines an intense yearning for this state of completion with the tormenting sense that it cannot be attained, that there is always some demand or anxiety or distraction which can’t be silenced,”

I just finished reading this article! It got better and better with each paragraph. I gasped several times in self-recognition. Everyone should read it.
This is an incredibly well-written and detailed article that hits way too close to home. Everything is relatable in a deep, saddening and truthful way. Really recommend this read as it gives insight to what many of our current experiences and struggles are as ‘‘millennials.’

How to Grow the Fuck Up: Guides to Life
I know it can be a nightmare to dig through the tags and see all those asks and not the guides. So here is a handy-dandy list of all the “official” how-to posts.
FYI: This used to be a rude advice blog. It is not any longer. Some of the really old guides still use that format, but as they are updated with more information, they’re edited to fit the new, less abrasive format. For more info, please visit the about page.

Hey everyone! I’m opening commissions. If you’ve ever wanted your D&D character, your OC, or a friend’s characters drawn, I’ll do it if you pay me haha ^^
Message me here on tumblr if you’re interested - I’m opening ten spots right now, and if they fill I’ll close them until I’m done and then reopen. Payment is always through Paypal, and I send the initial sketch/color ideas before asking for payment so that I can make any necessary changes and you know i’m working on the piece.
I am, however, only taking original character commissions this round - I don’t want to have to worry about the legality of selling fanart. As long as the character(s) you want me to draw belongs to you or people you know, you’re all good.
(via filibusterfrog)
A friendly guide to describing your OCs (to your artists):
-When describing them, DON`T:
✿ Write 3 pages about your character. One paragraph is more than okay. A few pages for just a general idea of your character will be unconfortable for your artist to keep handy and picture your character correctly.
✿ Include their backstory. Its irrelevant for your artist to know all the details for your ocs personal life.
✿ Just say “its a nice guy :)” try to use descriptive, objective words to describe briefly their personality. The same can be applied to “shes beautiful”. What is beautiful to you? Talk about their specific features!
-Please DO:
✿ Keep it short and simple.
✿ Include their personality! Facial features mean nothing if we dont know what their demeanor is like! Want expressive art? Be sure to include their personality.
✿ Be as objective as you can. Talk about their body shape, the size and shape of their nose, the color of their hair, specific markings, etc.
blease
I think backstories are cool n all but if I’m getting through a commission queue, I don’t have time to set aside and read them.
I commission other artists like I prefer to be commissioned.
-I provide an image gallery/reference gallery (often with work of the same character done by me or another artist, but sometimes just references and face claims if that’s all I have.)
-Give like a 1 sentence/4 word description of their personality (example: tired, sarcastic, regal, secretly compassionate.)
-and then any additional notes that might be hard to see otherwise (eye color, a specific scar, a tattoo, etc.)Sometimes I’ll provide a short backstory summary buuut if I do, it’s rarely more than a paragraph and I preface it with “The following is not mandatory information to read! Just backstory stuff!” and I put it at the very end.
Make your commission email EASY TO READ and CONCISE and your artist will LOVE YOU
YEEEEESSSS
Also having all that info in a dense paragraph makes it really hard to go back and find that one thing I’m looking for. Like if I’m coloring and I don’t remember what the eye color was supposed to be it’s a lot harder to find it hidden in a dramatically written dense paragraph than to find it in a simple list/short paragraph about the face.
